The Story of Our Strange Dog, Princess

What is the Paranormal?

The paranormal has gained a great deal of publicity in recent years, mostly thanks to cinema and television shows focusing on paranormal activity. However, few know exactly what the paranormal actually is.
Paranormal is defined as any experiences that cannot be explained through science. This can range from anything spiritual based to extraterrestrial. However, there are specific differences between these forms of paranormal activity.
Extraterrestrial paranormal activity revolves around the topic of aliens from other planets, as well as UFOs and alien abductions. Spiritual based paranormal activity has quite a wide variety of mediums including psychic phenomenon, ghosts, and even demonic activity. There are also other types that rest somewhere between the two.
The most popular of the paranormal phenomenon that stand between extraterrestrial and spiritual is the concept of space/time rifts, which have been attributed to the activity in the Bermuda Triangle, as well as similar activity around the globe.
Extraterrestrial activity is a form of paranormal phenomenon that has been actively researched and experienced for the better part of a hundred years; although it gained further publicity in the nineteen fifties with the Roswell Incident in Roswell, New Mexico. Before that, alien abductions and reports of unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, were merely whispers between farmers. They were not verified and there were fears that speaking of such things openly would result in being locked away in a mental asylum.
However, after the very public and very hushed crash of, what many believe to be a space craft of some sort in the small town of Roswell, New Mexico, those who had experienced these paranormal events were no longer afraid to speak openly. From that point, there were more and more reports of paranormal activity revolving around aliens and UFOs and the numbers of those reports have grown exponentially. Thousands of reports of alien abductions, as well as sightings of “flying saucers” and “strange lights” are reported every day around the world. These sightings are not always verified and most frequently are viewed as unreliable.
There are, however, many reports each year that are verified and investigated. UFO sightings are reviewed in the thousands, but only a few hundred of them are investigated. The Arizona sightings in early 2009 were one of the few that were investigated thoroughly. There were over a hundred eye witnesses that saw the same paranormal event, and many of them were able to record it on video.
Most investigations into these particular paranormal events are only preformed when there are a certain number of witnesses to account for the activity. Also among the extraterrestrial paranormal activity is crop circles. This phenomenon occurs mostly in corn and wheat fields and occur all over the globe. However, they are not always valid claims. It has become a form of a hoax to create these intricate designs in fields and blame alien activity to get publicity for a town or farm. Mostly, crop circles are difficult to validate as being actual paranormal phenomenon because it always occurs at night and there are never any actual witnesses to the occurrence.
Almost all paranormal activity involving spiritual activity can be verified, validated, or explained using scientific methods. The claims that are validated usually involve hauntings of homes and spiritual activity that surround certain people. This particular form of paranormal activity has been experienced for centuries and viewed in many different ways, including the spirits needing to find rest, or give a message, and demonic activity.
Ghosts and standard hauntings involving disembodied voices and sounds, and also apparitions of the deceased are common. These hauntings are categorised as, either intelligent or residual. Intelligent hauntings involve disembodied voices that know what is being said by living people as well as things being moved in the home or building. A residual haunting is usually an apparition that re-enacts the activities in death that they preformed in life.
Typically, these hauntings involve visions of people standing at windows, by beds, or walking up and down stairs and courtyards. These tend to be the more standard hauntings.

House possessions are fairly common when demons are present. There are also many claims of demonic possessions in humans, however, many of these claims are unable to be validated. When it is, the Catholic Church acts quickly to exorcise the demonic presence and rid the home or person of the evil entity.
The most famous of these paranormal activities is recorded as the exorcism of a young girl named Emily Rose. It has been the subject of several films and television shows, as well as several documentaries. Annelise Michel, however, did not survive the exorcism and the Priest that preformed it was arrested and tried for murder.
Paranormal activity occurs around us every day. Some of us can see it, hear it, or feel it, but others cannot.
