How to Organize your tubes in Paint Shop Pro.

  By Chronos
It's great fun downloading tubes, but there comes a time when you have so many you can't find anything.
Then it's time to get them organized. Hopefully in this tutorial I will be able to share what I do and help you take better control of your downloaded tubes.

There are a number of ways to do this but I have found the easiest way is:-

 1. Open Windows Explorer.
 2. Click on your C drive, go to Program files, then Jasc Software, and finally Paint Shop Pro.
 3. Open the paint Shop Pro folder. Go up to File, select it and then click New, then folder.
 4. You have a new folder which is unnamed.

To keep them together always start the name with tubes-. Then all you have to do is add your different categories, examples could be tubes-anime, tubes-dollz, etc.
If you download a lot of tubes from any one site you can also name them by the artists or sites name, such as tubes-creativespirits, tubes-aaardvarkstudio, etc, that will help when you are asked where they came from.

 5. When you download tubes unzip and place in the correct folder.

To Access your new tube folders.

 1. Open PSP, Click on file, then click on browse. Find your tube folders- C drive, Program files, Jasc  software, finally PSP.
 2. Click on the tube folder that you need. The tubes will show up in a window on the right.
 3. Right click on the tube you want and then click open.
 4. If the tube is the size you need go ahead and use it. A copy will stay in your tube folder. If you need to resize it make sure the tube you opened is still highlighted. Go to file-Export-PictureTube.
 5. The export Picture tube box comes up. If your tube has more than one cell across and down put the numbers in. You might have to place a tube name in, but, sometimes you don't. Then click ok.
 6. Your tube now can be resized in the main tube folder. If you don't plan on using the tube again soon remember to delete it. To many tubes in the main files slows your load time. It will still be in the folder you opened from.

One other tip I want to share with you. When you start PSP you already have one tube folder. Well you can have 3 folders that are easy to get to.
When you are creating your folders create one that is tubes-2 and one that is tubes-3. These you can use for the tubes that you use a lot.
Now you are asking me how do I get to them, ok so this is how you do it...

 1. In PSP go to File/Preferences/File Locations.
 2. Click on the tube button. You will see that the first line is already filled in, it goes to your main tube folder.
 3. On the second line type in C;\Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro\tubes-2.
 4. Do the same for the third line except change the last to tubes-3.
 5. Under each line it has Enable this Path ...Use sub Folders ...Save to path.
 6. Check the sub folders on all three paths.
 7. To use one of the folders make sure all three boxes are checked and the first and the last boxes are unchecked for the one you are moving from.

If you keep the number of tubes in each file lower your tubes will load faster and won't bog down PSP.

This folder technique can also be used for brushes, textures, gradients, patterns, frames and shapes. If you have any questions please ask.

I hope this helps getting all those wonderful tubes in order.
