Installing Fonts on Windows 95/98/Me & Windows XP/2000 by Chronos
This tutorial shows you how to install fonts on the Windows 95/98 and Windows XP Operating systems. Don't forget that you can install a maximum of approximately 800 TrueType fonts in Windows ME, 98, or 95.
In order to use PostScript Type 1 fonts in Windows Me/98/95 or Windows NT, you will need to use Adobe Type Manager (ATM), ATM Deluxe, or ATM Light. You can download Adobe's freely distributable ATM Light for Windows from Adobe's Web site. If you are running Windows XP or Windows 2000, you don't need to install ATM since it is part of the operating system already.
Installing TrueType Fonts into the Fonts Folder.
Choose Start > Settings> Control Panel. Double-click the Fonts folder to display its contents. Choose File> Install New Font. Locate the fonts you want to install. In the Drives list, select the drive that contains the fonts you want to install. In the Folders list, select the folder that contains the fonts you want to install. (Make sure you have unzipped them first.) The fonts in the folder appear under List of Fonts. Select the fonts to install. To select more than one font, hold down the CTRL key and click each font. To copy the fonts to the Fonts folder, make sure the Copy fonts to Fonts folder check box is selected. Click OK to install the fonts. Note: You can also install TrueType fonts by dragging them into the Fonts folder. Select the font files, and drag them into the Fonts folder.

Installing PostScript Type 1 fonts in Windows Me/98/95 or Windows NT using ATM Deluxe, ATM Light, or ATM 4.0 or later
If you are running Windows Me/98/95, or Windows NT, you must use ATM to install PostScript Type 1 fonts. You can download Adobe's freely distributable ATM Light for Windows from Adobe's Web site. Start ATM Deluxe, ATM Light, or ATM. Click the Add Fonts tab. Under Source select Browse for Fonts. Select the drive and the folder with the fonts you want to install (Make sure you have unzipped them first.) ATM displays the list of available fonts. Select the fonts. To select more than one font, hold down the CTRL key and click each font. To add the fonts outside any set, click Add. Or, to add the fonts to a particular set, drag the fonts to a set in the Destination list, or select the set and click Add. If you are creating a new set, you can rename the set as you add fonts to it.
Until the next time, enjoy the tutorial.
