Description: The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle was written retrospectively.
This was almost certainly because the Angles and Saxons were illiterates. This becomes obvious once the earlier entries are studied. Therefore these “Chronicles” need to be handled with some care. One early entry is however of some interest. It concerns the concealment of British Treasures.
