How to use ws_FTP LE pt1.   By Chronos

 Ok this tutorial will show you how to use ws_FTP LE. This is the FTP program that we at Creativespirits use and for us, it is the best one out there.

 To download this FTP software you can go here to get it. WS_FTP LE. Once it is on your computer and you have opened it you will see a screen similar to what you see in figure 1, above.

 It may look complicated to someone who is new to these sort of programs, but it really is very easy to use. You would start by clicking NEW on the top right of the box and it will clear out all of the text allowing you to enter your own.

 First is Profile name. This is what you will use to call your login info. We use Creativespirits as our site is called Creativespirits. ;o)
 Second is Host Name/Address. This is the name of your websites ftp server. Ours is just www.creativespirits.net but most of the time it will be ftp.yourdomainname.com.
 Third is Host Type. The dropdown menu is to set the type of host you have. It is best to leave it on Auto Detect, (figure 2)

 Your User ID is the name that you decided to call your website. For Example if your website was http://www.colman.creativespirits.net">www.colman.creativespirits.net your user ID would be colman. If you have a domain, it will be what you or your host specified when you signed up for hosting.
 Password is the simple part... It is simply the password you requested or the one that your host gave you.

 Don't worry about the blanks called Account and Comments. They are not generally necessary for any accounts you will come across.

 When you log in you will see the program's screen be similar to figure 3.

 As you see the screen is divided into 2. The left side is files on your computer, the right is the files and folders on your website.
 The little green arrow, on either side, is used to move up a folder, either on your computer or the website. I cannot really show you screenshots of this as both our computer and website will be set up different to yours.
 To upload, or download files and images click on the file and, as shown in figure 4 click either of the arrows. The arrow facing left will download files onto your computer and the arrow facing right will load files onto your website.

 The bottom buttons ASC11, Binary, and Auto are for the methods of up, or download. ACS11 is used for text files, php files, html files, and inc files. Binary is used for images and Zip files.
 I wouldn't recommend using Auto as this can, sometimes mess the files up.
